There is just so much of it! It's hard to think that contemporary Chinese pottery will ever have any value. But some 'vintage' Chinese pieces have a little value so it's good to look for those, such as Pre-WWII items. When I shop at church sales or consignment shops, I avoid Chinese-made items. "Christmas-tree Shoppe" items are all from China.

Hello and welcome larryE! I'm afraid I have to agree with NewEngland. Your pot does not have antique value but it does have decorative value. In other words, what would someone pay to have it as an accessory item in their house or garden? You don't give the size but these types of blue and white relatively new Chinese items tend to sell for $10 to $25 at our local auction depending on size and condition.

Although we tend here on the board to concentrate on antiques, there is money to be made in buying and reselling other items. I tend to buy based on my own aesthetics. If I think it's an attractive item and priced right I may buy it to resell or I might buy it just for the fun of researching it. There's not a lot of money to be made this way but you at least have a chance of breaking even and might even hit a winner every now and then. And if you buy what you like you can learn the market pretty quickly.

That's what the forum is for.:)
The Chinese characters also mean made in China. This is late 20th century, 1970 or later.
As Aquitaine said, a nice planter. Decorative value.

If you get early 20th C cloisonne or enamel ware or filigree jewellery marked China it certainly has value over decorative.

Yes, it does. Old Chinese Export jewellery has a considerable value, and even the post-50s Export jewellery is getting more expensive.

    Hi,
Especially jewelry from the 40s and 50s. I bought a piece for 10 cents from a well known jewelry mavon. The piece was 99% solid silver with 6 real stones. Sold on line for 275 dollars. It just said CHINA on the back. That is why she had it in the junk pile.
