Majolica elephant comport/ dish. Info please.

    I was on the way to the hospital to see Ryan and ran across a small flea market. Decided to stop and came out with this majolica piece. Can anybody tell me anything about it? Thanks in advance!

    I think it's a modern Chinese piece, Mike, based on the bottom and the even all over crazing, but please wait for other opinions.

    I suspected that. The crazing on the elephants look artificial. But for $5. I liked it enough to live with it!

    It does have decorator appeal and for $5 how can you go wrong? It will be worth at least that if you ever decide to part with it.
