Hi All, it's great to be back.
I picked up this little 6 1/2" portrait plaque for a couple bucks over the weekend.
I was hoping someone might know the makers mark and approximate age of this piece?
(Donato di Niccolo di Betto bardi) Donatello was a florentine sculpture during the renaissance period.
Looks like it was broken completely in half and stapled back together.

Sorry, misunderstood. You were referring to the subject not the style of the piece.

This is from Walter Del Pellegrino's book Italian Pottery Marks, showing for Fantechi.

That must be a well known portrait of Donatello. It's used here again by Richard-Ginori.

Actually, it is van Gogh dressed as Donatello, but I'll accept Donatello because it's yours, Mikey.:playful:
And I like staples on ceramics.

I guess that would be when he dressed as Donatello.;) The ginger beard gives him away though.

Walters article is awesome but a little confusing as to dates. 1895-1905 or 1911-1960's
    Or somewhere in between?
