Maker help on silver fork

    I may be getting better!!! I think I found it 1828 English Sterling DinnerFork William Chawner II London 9

    how come it's all scratched? Did someone scotchbrite it?

    after I posted..I thought exactly the same thing :( They have been in a box in ? silver cloth sleeves for a long time 8 dinner 6 lunch but I had never really looked at them. Is it possible to get rid of those scratches? Now I'm going to need to look at all the rest. Auction purchase a long time ago so perhaps the family got them ready with scotchbrite!! :(
    Silly question..given the date and maker does this reduce them to silver value only?
