I found this at the flea market today. It hasn't been ironed so it's a bit wrinkly.
So it's made of the softest silk (as soft as Hermès) and the edges are hand rolled.
It's titled "Quelques objets pittoresques du Marché aux Puces" which means "Flea market items".

How old is the scarf and more importantly, what is the maker?

If there is no tag, google the printed legend (I can't make it out).

But check the hems first - a designer/luxury silk scarf will have rolled edges with hand stitching, not folded hems.

How sheer is it? Hermes scarves are heavy silk (like lingerie) , some Gucci scarves are lighter weight silk, and other designers vary.

I don't recognized this but I'd put money on its NOT being an Hermes, and the lack of a centre medallion is not a common theme , but not unheard of.

    There:

It's a typical scarf-silk twill. Compared to Hermès, well it's hard to compare because different Hermès silk twill scarf vintages have completely different feel to them even if it's technically the same fabric type. My scarf however is not sheer either.

I wasn't applying that it might be one. The edges are rolled towards the backside of the scarf and Hermès rolls them towards the front.

I just realized the name in the title (Marché aux Puces) is a very well-known and popular flea market area in France. Could the scarf be some sort of a vintage souvenir?

More likely a US department store piece done with a French design. It wasn't too uncommon.

Marché aux puces just means flea market, it could be anywhere, anytime, and does not refer to a specific town.
In France there are famous ones in Paris and in Lille. There are wellknown ones in the French speaking part of Belgium as well.
