Hi all, lovely to meet you. What a wonderful forum this is!

I have recently been given some items that belonged to my grandad and would like to find out what they are, where they might have come from, how old they are etc.

The first is my favourite, a warrior on a horse holding a spear. My mum tells me she remembers this as a child (she is now 73) but knows nothing else about it.

    It weighs 2.1kg/4.6lbs.

Does anyone know where I might get any information about him? I think it might be brass.

    Thank you in advance.

    Mrs B

Hi Mrs.B and doggie! Welcome on board!:joyful:
For the warrior, from the inlaid stones in it, to me it has a Tibetan vibe. Maybe @Any Jewelry will know better :)

Thanks all for the welcome! I've done so many google searches using keywords, warrior, horse, brass but I can't find anything out there that looks similar!

Yes, I think he was in service during WWII but I would have to find out from my mum where he was..

I’m pretty sure it’s Guan Gong. Welcome to the Forum, Mrs.B.!

Guan Gong, Guan Yu, vintage figurine. I found hundreds of others online but only one, labeled “vintage” had a similar calm horse just standing there, all the more recent ones have horse rearing up or otherwise in a very active pose. None had stones or glass set in.

    Welcome Mrs B.
I agree, a Chinese brass figurine of Guan Gong. I have never seen one with the inlay, that could point to a specific region.
Maybe @JayBee knows which region is known for brass with inlay like this?
