That's the question and not sure of the answer. Thrift store find for 50 cents each. 0604191142a.jpg 0604191141a.jpg 0604191141b.jpg 0604191141d.jpg 0604191142.jpg View attachment 183286 0604191141e.jpg 0604191141c.jpg

    Hi,
Dyed alabaster eggs. They were probably imported from Italy in the 1960s. I must have a dozen or so. been finding cute little holders for them over the years.

I have bowls and bowls (and bowls...) of eggs - many are alabaster, but by no means all! Here are a couple of them:

I also collect unusual egg cups, so there are lots of other stone eggs, in those, around the house. Many of them I've had since I was a kid in the 1960's.

p.s. Yes, that's an OLIVE, not an EGG, in the bottom bowl!

I too have bowls of these. The most expensive are malachite, blue john and lapis lazuli. Most are marble or other stone like agate and granite, some are alabaster, but in general I looked for distinctive ones. I could never resist a box full at an auction, though, so I do have a large number of undistinguished ones.

One of my investments that's never going to pay off. Not bothered, as I do like them for some reason.
