    Marcus Aurelius wasn't the first one to lose his head in Egypt, not the last either.;)

    I wonder why it is rare for a Roman emperor's statue to be found in Egypt? Didn't the Roman's rule Egypt for an extended period of time?

    Hi Huntingtreasure,
    Thanks for this interesting post, this would be my dream find.:) The Ministry of Antiquities (Egypt) has a great Facebook page, with more information about this and other treasures. Don't let the Egyptian writing put you off, the Translation is really pretty good and it seems most posts are also written in English.
