Featured mark on odd japanese saucer

    Hi folks

    trying to work on the mark on this japanese saucer before sale.
    im thinking antique, but not 100% sure
    its quite an odd heavy thing, almost like cloisonne work on porcelain

    any help or comments appreciated

    Cloisonne has been done on a porcelain substrate, although I cannot tell if that is what is going on in this case.

    Gosh, that's lovely and does look like cloisonné on porcelain. Mark looks Japanese to me, but I don't know for sure.

    Never seen cloisonne on ceramic before. Quite lovely. The first photo of the back is the correct orientation. Sure ive seen the mark before but cant remember at present. Will mull over with coffee and bacon/cheese in toast.

    I think the bottom symbol is sei which is common place on Japanese marks which is why it looks familiar. Possibly an arita imari mark which would tally with the markings round the edge of the saucer

    Possibly just generic mark for Japan made

    It is fairly rare to see cloisonne on porcelain, but it's out there. Probably not that easy to make.

    Yes I can imagine it all just sliding off. Bit hard to make to make it all stick.
