    Hi all,
Must be the week for Masonic stuff, I saw journey's post about his sashes.
The one I picked up is pretty ornate, Blue velvet, the symbols are done with a heavy metallic thread, 44"L. RBP stands for Royal Black Preceptory
Any way to figure out the age?
    any information appreciated.
    thanks for looking:)

thanks komokwa:) Yes, still a secret society. From the wear and overall look of the piece I'm thinking it has some age to it.

It doesn't seem to be made for the rank & file......and to come on the market....the owner must has passed away....a while back !!
    IMO..

Yes, I agree, this looks to be for some higher up in the organization. I tried to figure out how the symbols/badges work, what you have to do to get them etc., not as easy to figure out as Brownie badges are:)

I apologize if this is an unwanted intrusion on this thread.

Sort of (well perhaps completely) off-topic but . . . do any others here remember any part of the "ceremony" to "let" you join the Brownies?

I remember the parts of the ceremony where the leader(s) asked questions like "Who helps their mother in the kitchen?" . . . "Who puts their toys away where they belong?" etc.

I remember my responses and the responses of the other want-to-be Brownies (almost) in unison:

"It's me, it's me!!!" to all of the questions. :D

In looking at others, they have a chapter #. I wonder if yours is New Old Stock. ?

    thanks INH:)
I wondered that too but I have found some sashes with the chapter # a gold pin rather than embroidered in place, so I'm not sure

I've heard back from one lodge,
'this is a collaret from a Sir Knight in a Royal Black Preceptory, without the chapter number we are unable to determine which lodge. The velvet makes this an older piece, modern pieces are woven with a leather back'.
I had to chuckle at this line:)
'As this is classed as a secret organisation, I am unable to discuss the symbols and their meanings. I hope you understand.'
