Matson Ormolu. Soap dish stand. Fix or sell?

Hi all.
First off the shell has rust on the top and bottom. Can it be repaired or just sell it as is? It's 5 1/2" tall. and I'm told it is 24 K gold plated? More like gold washed?
It was Dirt cheap so either way I'm good.

Have you tried using anything on it to this point? I might try using a soft-bristle toothbrush with soap & water first.

Then how about trying a little silver polish on a q-tip using a very light touch? Try it in a small spot where the rust is a little lighter to see what happens.

 

Minimal value. I would question whether it's worth listing. Once you add in a shipping cost it's likely to be cheaper to buy new.
