Ran across this interesting desk...looks mcm of value...?? I did google lens and saw some similar that were George Nelson for Herman Miller. Thinking of grabbing her on a gamble... Screenshot_20231214_061620_OfferUp_copy_270x600.jpg Screenshot_20231214_061620_OfferUp_copy_270x600.jpg

You may well be right. Do let us know. (Hard to tell from photographs but could be an interesting piece.)

I think it was originally part of a three-piece corner desk set... the corner piece is missing. It looks awkward having just the two pieces butted up against each other like that, especially with the placement of those two legs... unless, as a two-piece set, the two pieces weren't meant to be right next to each other... but that chest sitting on it's own would look odd.

I'm not sure about this, I have seen some pics online of just these 2 pieces set in an L shape...I will try to find and post. Upon seeing the desk in person last night after my husband got home, I have more questions than before!! I will post a couple pics later with my questions & thoughts. It's a very curious piece!

Yes, do share. I'm not able to envision how that could work with the two pieces you have. I'm still of the opinion that yours likely had a third (corner) piece.
The only 2pc sets like that I've seen include a desk that is taller than the chest so the chest, with an extended surface, can sit under the writing surface. The desk would then also need to be wider so there would still be room to sit at it and get one's legs underneath.
In the 2-pc set below, see how the chest surface is lower so it can sit under the desk surface?
(Regardless, free useful furniture can't be beat!)

Hey again! Finally got some breathing room, here are some updated pics...
*So, think mid century/NOT MCM (Legs(??))
*pulls are ODD....but I think original bc they match the top and appear formica as well? My only question is that 3 of the 6 drawers have this weird circular scratch/mark like it maybe had another pull or knob at one point (??)
*tracks look kind of modern to me but idk???
*drawers are nailed together, not dovetailed...is this odd, or mean its cheap/low quality??

    TIA as usual! 20231216_125728_copy_450x1000.jpg 20231216_125731_copy_450x1000.jpg 20231216_125742_copy_1000x450.jpg 20231216_125823_copy_450x1000.jpg 20231216_125814_copy_450x1000.jpg

Hmmmm, I'm starting to wonder if it isn't a homemade project re-using some older legs and other bits and bobs.
    Looking forward to expert opinions!

Not liking that drawer construction as far as it being a manufactured piece. Would think the drawer handles original. The circular scratch can happen when one side of the pull comes loose and it can spin on the other attachment point.

With the photos provided, I'm wondering if period legs and drawer fronts were remade into this.

Heres that stamp on bottom of one of the drawers....shop cutting remnant?? I think thats what it says. Possibly pointing to it being a home made job....ugh.

Picked up from original owner, she said ut was her husband's as a teenager and they were in their 60s.....so it has some age.... 20231218_081330_copy_1000x450.jpg
