This was free at a recent estate sale, estate runners here are not allowed to sell alcohol if part of an estate, but apparently can GIVE it away. In addition to this piece I got 2 bottles of free 19 year old red wine at the sale... will report back.)

Anyway, I was taken with the green glass (11" tall) and the estate runners (who were limiting shoppers to 2 bottles of the free red) said, "go ahead and take that green bottle too".

I honestly don't know how old it is, might not be as old as MCM era. Most of the other liquor was 1990's-early 2000's.

There is some of the liquor in the bottle which I DOUBT is any good. Although the label appears unopened, the cork is kind of falling apart.

Thoughts needed. ANY value in a bottle like this for resale? Thanks.

Yes the same! Well found! :) Thank you, @Debora

So maybe worth listing! I just checked the stamp at the bottom, good suggestion. Could be a date, possibly. At first looks like inventory number or something, but then a space and "78". Maybe 1978?

    Thanks for finding that auction.

The seller has identified it as MCM. To my eye it appears later. The stamp would date your bottle; might be a bit of work to do so from the information easily findable on the internet.

Cork definitely shot, I'm assuming the alcohol is bad, and not going to take a chance drinking it, lol. Can't sell alcohol on Ebay so would be sold as an empty bottle. The one in the link on Ebay for $63 is empty bottle only, no stopper cork. I realize that is an asking price, but maybe someone would like one for $35-40?? It's a very cool looking vintage Italian bottle. Would look great with MCM glass collection. I don't even think the stopper adds much in this case, but can include it if someone wants it.

The alcohol is definitely getting dumped.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Interesting that the seller is calling it a vase (and a bottle). I guess to get more eyes on it.

And MCM. A somewhat misleading listing but perhaps unintentional. (Still, the key words were chosen to support an otherwise unsupportable asking price.)

It’s an Empoli made bottle, and the design is older than the contents.

Interesting. Forgive my ignorance but... What is an "Empoli made bottle" and how do we know?

Empoli has many many glass factories making both commercial and decorative glass, as I’m sure you know. This one is based on a fairly common genie bottle design, which happened a fair old bit with alcohol bottles. The design is probably early sixties ish. The genie version would have had a tall pointy stopper.

as an aside, it’s interesting how many good glass companies made bottles to hold alcohol. Holmegaard for example.

How kind but... there's no "sure you know" about it!)
