This is one I acquired a few weeks ago. It is in really nice shape, the only damage we could spot is in that last photo, directly beneath the flower at 6pm position that leaf is broken off. Nearly all of these have some sort of damage often to the flower in his hand and this one is in really nice shape. My question: is there any way to date this piece other than generally late 18th or early 19th century? Most of the references I saw on the internet say c1795 or c1775 or early 19th century. Does anyone have any ideas on that thanks.

The original model was made in the 18thc but these were produced through the 19thc and in the 20thc also. They may even still be produced.
When you see a base with a slot like yours, that usually signifies the piece was mounted on a base, using a "t" type fitting. It is sometimes seen in porcelains that were originally mounted as lamps.
