I don't know why it would be a reproduction. And I don't see Art Nouveau. In what part of the world did you find your box? And what were you told about it? Does it have any marks? And what is the size?

Does anyone if those lines with the bottony ends have a secular meaning?

Purchased in the UK, no makers marks, 15cm x 11cm x 7cm deep

Agreed, I don't see Art Nouveau. A seal?

    Couldn't find a match. Decorative, I'd think.

Ditto, no Art Nouveau, although it could be the same period.
It could be a crest of some sort. As Mirana suggested, it resembles a lacquer seal as attached to documents.

Yeah, doesn't have to be an official seal, but maybe a logo of some sort. Reminds me of chocolate and biscuit tins, with that little lip to hold an inset tray maybe.

That was my first thought but they're typically much more elaborate.

    Again, no Art Nouveau seen.
Agree with some sort of decorative fantasy "seal" on (perhaps) a food/sweets/biscuit box.
