Metal crucifix

Picked this up over the weekend. Not sure if it's bronze or spelter maybe? There is some writing on the bracket but I can't quite make it out. Looks like 'Stoffen' but can't find any references to this online. Looks like a couple of letters on the other side of the bracket too. Best light at this time of night was holding it up to the ceiling. Please take no notice of the cob webs.

Ditto. This is a corpus, possibly from a coffin. It was never on a cross, as you can see from the foothold, which was cast in one piece with the corpus.

 

I find it to be highly interesting that to affix this nice item , to any sort of backing....you have to nail it on !!!

That would give me the heeby jeebies..

 

Even worse, it was probably screwed on.
