Metal face with loop (not old) --what is this?

Any thoughts on this? Is it just a towel rack? Part of a door knocker? Definitely not old, maybe 90's or so. Thanks for taking a look.

 

I go with finger towel rack. One would probably expect a "blob" of metal at the point a knocker would meet the "knock on". But??????

I wouldn't wish it in my loo - I see enough scary things when I turn on the lights in the morning................

 

The mouth looks like the Foo dog, but the rest doesn't match up.

Wonder if it was meant for an outdoor gate.

And it has an almost human nose.................Southeast Asian demon or so? But then WHY the Greek key design?

 

maybe not so much a door knocker......as a door puller....

 

It's a meander pattern, the Chinese use it quite often in different forms, the Greek key is a meander pattern meant to mimic the following of a meandering river.
