Makanudo There is no such thing as simple.Simple is hard.

This religious plate is in negative.
Could it have been used for makng graphic imprints?
    Thanks!

I can't see this as an actual printing plate... just a decorative picture.

I can't see the details very well from your first photo but if the edges have been filed down, then it was used as a printing plate. The coloration on the plate is from past inkings.

Are there any words on it and do they appear backwards? This would further indicate a printing plate run.

    Hello,
Yes the words appear to go backwards and from right to left and I think they are in old church russian or old slavic language.
The plate is in relief (black colour being the top level) and its size is 15x20 centimeters.
    Here are some more photos:

Those dots say it is a half tone image, photographically produced. So while it may be a printing plate it is a relatively recent one.

@Makanudo - If the color on the sides of the plate is silver, the plate is probably zinc. Also copper plates were used. While the dots usually indicate the plate is photographically produced, this is not always the case, however I do think this is true for your plate. Although you didn't mention what size, this looks to be a handmade plate probably published in a book.

People do collect these old printing plates.
