    Hi

I bought these as table legs, I have 4 of them (to make 2 tables).

Does any know how old they might be and whether they were originally table legs or had another use please ?

They are very heavy and have feet to be screwed to the floor. The man I bought them from seemed to think they could be Victorian and possibly from a ship or church.

Would be grateful for your thoughts

    Thanks

Hard to tell what you have from your photographs. How tall are they? How long? And, from the mounting they look more like exterior elements rather than interior.

    Thanks Debora,
They’re 77cm (or 30.5ins) high and 66cm (or 26ins) at the widest point

Think you could be right. Now to decide whether to stick to the original plan of building a table....or go for an altar!!!!

    Thanks again

Those would make fantastic table bases.

Technically, a baluster for an alter rail (or some other type of railing).

I've stared at a lot of altar rails in my time. ;)
