Hi everyone and greetings from Germany!

I'm searching for some information about this metal box/jar of how to call it and maybe you can help me :)

Dont think it is brass because it sounds like metal but it is quite heavy.

Any ideas about the item and its origins?

    Many thanks!

Can you give a picture of the bottom? Choose Full size for all images. Also what is the size?

Sure, but there is nothing at the bottom apart from traces from some sticker :(

The engraved design with the shield and ribbons makes me think it might be a cremation urn. What does the inside look like?

What are the dimensions ? In the photos it looks like brass that was plated with silver or tin.

Could be plated with silver or tin because it doesn't look like a "classical" brass item.

I think it might be a silverplate tea caddy, and welcome aboard. :)

It sounds better than the urn :D
Do you have an idea from what period it originates?

    Thank you!

What is the small decoration? Are those crowns?

No pic of the bottom? That surface helps establish the age whether marked or not.

I’m guessing it was made in mid-to-late 20 th C.

Seems if it was silver, even plated, there would be a mark somewhere. But there doesn't seem to be. I suppose tea caddy is a better suggestion. :)
