I have no Idea what this is or where it's from. Found in my Aunt's things. No mark. I only know she traveled all over the world and loved unique pottery pieces. This is the only one like it.

Can we have a side view, please? It does not look Mexican to me.

    I think it might represent a tlacuache[IMG]

I've never seen anything like that from México (or anywhere else for that matter.)

Me neither. The shape is of a molcajete but I never saw a molcajete with a handle.

The shape looks a little more Mexican from the side, but I can't place that creamy white slip. I assumed it was a mouse or rat, but an opossum is a possibility - which would at least place it on the right continent.

I've seen a few (much older/Pre-Colombian) pieces that have dogs that look like this....i don't know a thing about pottery....are there pottery experts I could go to?

Haha, yes, opossum - I couldn't recall the right word in English. Sorry, I am from Europe :) Tlacuache is a particular Mexican type. I don't know how they call them in other Latin American countries

Found México to Bolivia which narrows it down (if indeed Latin American.)

the pre-Hispanic bowls with dog heads are typically from Colima. also, can be bats and other animals.
