I found this necklace today. Another one for the hoard :shame:
Can you tell me if these micro beads likely to be Czech or are they manufactured in many places?.
    Thankyou :)

They could be Japanese too, but Czech is as likely as not.

Thankyou very much. I've just Googled and learned that Czech beads are usually doughnut shape whereas the Japanese usually have squarer edges.
These are definitely doughnut shaped with curved soft edges so I'm leaning well towards Czech.

They're called seed beads and are made in different sizes.

If the necklace is fairly new, the beads could be Czech or also could have been made in China, where they're making copies of many different types of beads.

That barrel clasp says 70s/80s to me, so not Chinese in all likelihood.

Pretty color. Agree this is newer. I recall these braided bead necklaces showing up at the thrift a few decades ago. 1980s/90s would be my guess.

Can't speak to the origin of the glass (I would have thought China, too) but could be elsewhere. I don't think Czech just based on the era/design of the piece, but could be wrong.

If you google "braided bead necklace" you will see several on Ebay.

My guess would be Hongkong, 70s-80s. They manufactured nice glass micro beads, a rounded shape, but often a little irregular in length, which adds to the lively look of a necklace. Japanese beads are generally of equal length.

That colour screams 70s, too. And the brass barrel clasp is typical of HK pieces.
