I have recently started to research some antiques and vintage items I happen to come across at charity shops and car bootsales.

I came across this little pink teapot with an unusual pattern, the mark on the bottom indicates it is from the 50s and 60s but I can't seem to find any similar. It seems hand painted but again not sure.

Would love to know more if anyone has any info!

    Thank you

    Bart

    it has a funny spout

The pattern is first found in Egypt, and seems to have been molded on shapes from nature like seaweed, ferns or vines. The pattern reached Asia via the Silk Route, fused with the Buddhist culture of China and reached Japan in the ASUKA period (7th Century AD). In Chinese porcelain decoration this pattern is usually what is referred to as 'scraffiato'.
