Don't know what size it is but would it be the right size to hold a tapered candle?

The bird itself is 6.25". The base is about 1 1/8th" high. The whole in the top is as seen in the picture. It is about 1/8th" wide. This came in a box with several other things from (what I was told) a person who was a Turkish import/export person.

Compared to the Rubylane link, this looks like a rough/unfinished casting.Maybe an import from India.

Not sure I see Middle East [Region] / Islamic [Religion] / Persian [Country.] Think it may originally have been part of a European garniture (although not of the same quality or era as example) with bits missing.

Here are two supposedly from France. A little different with better detail.

Here's another just like the yours:

I'm inclined to think yours is a broken candlestick.
I also think there are too many out there, so maybe not as old as claimed.
Maybe 1970s India import. Just a guess on my part.
All the ones posted have been taken to a polishing wheel and cleaned up. I think yours is in original condition.

Indian, definitely. Hard to tell the age: made in Colonial times and still being made.
