Jumble find years ago. 16 x18 inches. Think it would frame up well but should I get rid of the embossed wallpaper on the back and replace with acid free card? Would it be acidic and leach into the fabric if left? Any advice please, thanks.

AI says yes, old wallpapers are generally acidic, particularly those made with wood pulp before 1990.
Regardless, it would look nicer backed by an acid-free board.
    How neat!

Bugle I think. The PA stands for Prince Albert who was their Commander in Chief. Thinking made in maybe 1980s from the wallpaper but who knows.

I bet the wallpaper is Indian too. I'd give them a divorce but save the backing. Embroidered paper may be a rare survival and someone may want it to copy.

The Somerset Light Infantry was amalgamated with another regiment in 1959 so no later. Earliest date 1842 when the Jellalabad scroll was added. If it were mine, I'd leave as is because the wallpaper backing is part of the piece's integrity. (And if the wallpaper hasn't leached in the last 65+ years...)

The wallpaper is a heavy embossed gold and silver ink that just looks like stitches.

I’ve had an idea, put a piece of acid free paper in between the two pieces:)Thanks to all.

It could be a commemorative piece done later than 1959.
The style of the JHB "signature" does look later...

Possible, of course, but I would think contemporary with the wallpaper. And not too many "modern women" have the needlework skills or the patience to undertake such a time-consuming and tedious project, I would think.

There are some, but the question is would they bother. I'd say unlikely.
