I picked this up 2 weeks ago from a family estate sale here close to my home in a senior community. The deceased man was a military veteran from 1941 to 1968 I was told by family member , they where not sure if this was his or another families boat who also was a military veteran .
I would like to know if anyone knows what the numbers and letters mean on the front of this. Has 3 chambers where you put air in it, had 2 wood seats it looks like.
Anyone ALSO KNOW WHAT THIS WAS USED FOR, combat, shore landing etc.

    Thank You

Length and width? Looks a little like the ones we used for fishing and scuba diving.

You bought this in California, I presume? upload_2019-4-30_19-8-31.png

Guessing that the number is probably so the owner could lawfully use the vessel in California, not military, since it starts with CF.
"any vessel that is used or moored on California waterways, including private lakes, must be registered."

    No idea about prior uses.

believe it or not, I have an answer: No, it's not b/c CF numbers aren't required in California for life boats, because people with yachts tried that trick on dinghies to avoid registration of their 20 ft towed 'life boat'... Assuming that's a CF number, of course. like that's some trivia I was carrying around this morning... None of which I started with this morning, thinking... ya know, I need to know more about CF numbers in California...:banghead:

So does it mean it’s military? The color reminds me of that, I could be wrong though

haven't got enough info to rule it in, or, out. Could be bought as surplus, but don't know enough about the makes of the inflatables themselves... but the numbers were put on 'later' to use in Calif. What I suspect is that the metal "oarlocks" are there as a convenience... (you hook two oars to them to row, that 'clamp' to the posts on the boat) that may be for sport use, rather than military ... because the craft looks one to two man size to me, and if you have to stealth in ... not much 'rowing' but 'quiet paddling' would be my choice. Again, can't rule in or out without somebody that knows the military craft features... not my bag.

If military there should be some numbers somewhere on it that give the DOD info.

Not sure I understand that, maybe because I didn’t explain. What I was suggesting is to call the company where someone should be able to tell you when the item was made, and other details, if they can look at the pictures. I’m sure there was once a sectional wood floor with the boat. The floor sections came in a canvas carrying case. I used those boats many times, with an outboard motor.
