This weekend I got a mini stone seal fob -- any ideas on age or if there's a more descriptive word for it?

I was ready to say 'fob seal' until I got to the pix & saw it is not designed to hang. I'm making up a term: 'pocket seal'. Can't tell, an armorial device?

To me it looks like the seal has a ship with a bird (dove?) at the top

Don't know if it has a greater significance other than looking interesting though

Here might be a better pic of what the seal looks like in light

Noah's Ark with the giraffes' head sticking out & the dove that brings back the olive branch that lets them know they are nearing land.

    Funny!

I use this as a tagline on a phonograph forum.

Generic_Lad, have you tried using it to see the seal's impression? You can us a regular candle, clay, kneaded eraser, or possibly butter

Also, if you stand it on the white end it has the look of a greek column.

I've tried, but it doesn't function well as a seal, the metal tends to get the wax more than the actual design and so the design doesn't show up
