#14 has no markings on the back. Any idea who made them?

#15, the carving set, has stainless steel blade and tines but the handles appear to be sterling, with no marks. When I hold a magnet to the handles, they do stick closer to the blade and tines, but not at all on the butt end. Any idea on age and maker?

#16 does stick to the magnet, but I have no idea of the composition. Is it some kind of an alloy or plated? It's a weird little "shovel" spoon, what ever it was used for.

For the carving set, look closely at the sides of the hollow handles - may just say sterling handle. And also at the pieces between the handles and the blade/tines.

that odd one is not sterling but it could be plated or not. Hard to say given your magnet test. Shovel for salt or sugar.

This is so frustrating, trying to find patterns. I ran across a pattern that looked familiar while searching for the patterns for spoons #1 and #2 in the other thread of mine, and #14 here looks like Shiebler sterling Sandringham, but it's not. Someone made a close copy.

I've been looking for over an hour, and can't find a darned thing.

Not sure why you don't think #14 is Shiebler's 'Sandringham - it bears their mark...

Must be me. I tried comparing the actual pattern and I thought it didn't quite match up in a few minor details.

I'm still learning about marks though, so I'm making the job that much more difficult for myself.

Edit: Ohhh, I see the mark now! :banghead:

Cowles Mfg. Co. was the maker of #16...

The marks are the place to begin...

I looked again, and still don't see any marks. I guess they will remain a mystery.
