Can anyone identify the stone on this bracelet and is the band genuine or faux tortoiseshell? Thank you!

My guess is that's real tortoise shell (dagnabbit!) and Larimar (I typed labradorite first and edited second because that is NOT the word I was thinking) . It's a combination that's often used in the Dominican Republic, where tortoiseshell items were still legal up until about 15 years ago. The stone is mined in the Dominican, and generally set in silver. Odds are some smith in the Republic made that.

I've never seen labradorescence in a piece of this stuff - it's not labradorite. I was thinking Larimar and typed Labradorite. Brain in two places at once.

It's generally a blue and white mix, totally opaque, and sometimes has flecks of brown in it. The good stuff doesn't. It's only found in the DR and they've started regulating the mining.
