WHAT THE HECK? Mom's music chair does not look comfortable and Jesus does not look comfortable, either. Not much to go on with this pic.

And, come to think of it, if that is a crucifix on a normal size wingback chair...that is pretty huge.

MarcusE I think I just figured it out -- you put your question in your information when you joined this website. If you don't mind I've copied your comment(s) and put it here for others to see.

"My mothers Louis XV Salon Set was bought in Paris in 1962 in an antique store. Does a mortise and tenon joint on the arm date it?"

The crucifix is unusual, with the body slumped to the side that way & the ribs skelletally thin.

The Crucifix came out of a WW2 bombed out Cathedral or Chateau. I was afraid someone might say it wasn't an antique. lol

My guess is that that is not Christ, but either one of the thieves crucified at the same time or some saint, and probably taken from a larger group.

I dunno. The man on the cross is so large and dominating to the photograph, it's difficult to look at the chair in the background!

What do the legs and feet of the chair look like?

agreed, flipper! Yeah I saw that in his avatar! Clever!

Maybe the figure is plastic and it melted

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Seems that the question is about the chair, not the crucifix. If so, more pics of the whole chair and its details without the crucifix would be in order.

That's what I thought too, Fig. But maybe that was a ruse to get us to look at the bizarre crucifix? ;)

I'm curious about just what a "music chair" is and how it is different from other chairs.

It comes with a crucifix so you can't sit down & have to stand up to play your sousaphone.
