Picked up this massively heavy gold over sterling necklace today. Can’t make out the makers signature. Any suggestions? F0A806CC-A8D7-4590-A224-BFCFB932415F.jpeg 12757B17-7D0C-4318-8330-1F6D93F6CC5E.jpeg 894E2430-B58A-4567-BF6B-F1638A6D3AC7.jpeg 7432EA8A-B1F1-47DC-9B84-7663EF7F7AA7.jpeg

Scratching what I said before.....tried enlarging....no date I can discern but sure can't make it out.....maybe good focusing and normal daylight will give a sharper image to post??

I will try but it’s pretty rough even from where I sit. :(

Those Balinese Moon Goddess faces were first made for Sajen, a Bali based company at the time. Due to the popularity they were copied by the hundreds.
I am surprised to find it in such a chunky necklace. Both the Moon Goddess (Dewi Ratih) and the necklace are nice, but I am not sure they work together, aesthetically.

I tend to disagree; the "man in the moon" face is not a modern/contemporary stone carving topic, you can already find it in late 19th centuray jewellery. It is made of different materials, usually moonstone, but also others.
Here are two examples, a clock by Fabergé (carved rock crystal) and a pair of cufflinks (carved moonstone) by Köchlin:

True, man in the moon jewellery is old, much older than the 19th century even.
But the current moon face fashion started with the Sajen pieces, which represent Dewi Ratih, the moon Goddess.

A bit like for instance Egyptian Revival, which is old, but becomes a new rage with a different focus every now and then because of different events or people.

Errrrm, are we all sure that it is 'Moonstone?' It looks too translucent & colourless going by the photos?

Difficult to see against that black background, but J.D says it is.

It’s possible it’s not. I have zero experience with them in person. It’s not as blue as I would expect but it’s not totally clear either. Maybe I’m seeing a blue tint that’s not there...I’ll post another picture if it which makes it look even clearer but when you play with it I think I see a little blue. I figured it was just a not a very colorful one but I really don’t know for sure.

Forgot to do it in daylight. Here’s a slightly more clear image I think though.

What is on the left side of the nose and mouth? Looks like air bubbles, but the photo isn't in focus.
