Featured More info on two fired-clay sculptures

Does anyone recognize these? I am thinking these were sculpted by hand from clay. They have that weight and the bottoms look that way. They are about 8 inches high.

 

The only thing that comes to mind is the mud men of Papua New Guinea, and that's not much of a connection even as a tourist piece.

 

Looks to me like somebody made phallic symbols.

 

They seem to be shaman related to me. The idea of not identifying with one's body or mind.

 

Not phallic.........but they ARE reminiscing of something I just can't quite remember...drat....sooooo familiar!!!!!

My first thought - "We are from France."

 

I sold that solid blackware head I posted a while back. I was going to give a conehead SNL reference but instead I said

HEAVY SOLID BLACKWARE FIGURATIVE HEAD SCULPTURE PUEBLO? BIGFOOT/SASQUATCH?

This is very heavy for its size at six pounds. It's seven inches tall. It's solid blackware. No signatures. It looks to be over 30 years old but I am just estimating it.

No experts that I showed it to (meaning you guys) had any ideas on it. Since I know some blackware is Native American, I am thinking perhaps this is also. Blackware is common in Pueblo pottery. I cannot guarantee its origin. It is skillfully made and well-executed. It has light wear but not much.

I was thinking perhaps the conehead might be from witnessing a bigfoot. It sounds odd but then someone who saw such a thing might want to make a memento of the life-changing event.
