Ran across this platter today at a local shop, sold to me as unmarked, but on further examination it does have a faint circular impressed mark containing two Japanese characters that I presume say "Dai Nippon". The mark is about a half an inch in diameter and is difficult enough to see - let alone photograph, so no pic of the mark available as yet. At the widest point it measures about 12-1/2".

Rather a beautifully decorated thing though, so of course I had to have it.

Very visually interesting - the three dimensional abstract design surrounding little flower portraits.

The impressed mark was difficult to photograph, but after photoshopping it a bit, I was able to get it to this stage ...so here you go!

Almost the same decoration Don - same period too. What do you know about your piece?

Unfortunately very little. It was an auction purchase. Nippon moriage was all I was able to come up with. I should have mentioned my piece appears to be a cracker jar. It's amazing your platter has survived all these years in such good condition. Congrats!

Don, on close inspection there are a few losses that reveal themselves but overall impression looks good, I agree!
Nice that there's no abrasion or wear to the delicate floral reserves.
