Murano glass?

    Hi guys,
Got this little box of glass animals in an auction lot. They are very nice, look like they should hang from something and are about an inch in size. Very delicate, very endearing and the box seems to imply they are murano glass but they look different to any examples I have come across. I'm not sure if they belong in this box or if they don't. I would be very grateful of any information? Not entirely sure what to do with them. Absolutely adore them but how to display?
    Cheers.

They are similar to other glass I have seen identified, by a source I trust, as Murano. Is the box padded or otherwise set up to keep them from knocking around?

The box has three layers of cotton wool seperating the figures. The cotton wool seems right for the box and the figures fit well between them.

Thanks Deborah, that is very interesting. It certainly matches the box info exactly. The Mr potato head dates it around that period too. Have not seen anything with the same solid colours. Everything I look at seems to be clear glass with colour through it.

Hi. These are really sweet. Each appears to have a hook: front paws of the mouse, fish fin, wing on the bird, etc. Would they hang on a glass or cup? A flower pot? Just curious.

Yes Linda, they are all designed to hang, I'm trying to work out the best and safest way to display them, they are extremely delicate. I like your idea, I have a nice pair of goblets that may just fit the bill. Thanks.

Maybe not these goblets, too crowded and will be better against grey perhaps but you've got my brain working in the right direction I think.

Drink markers, so guests who set their drink down at a party know which one is theirs when they want it again?

Would require a health and safety assessment in this day and age, possibly signage, supervision and of course a choking hazard warning label. :hungover:

I'd guess this too, but pass on the liability of wanting to sell 'em!! :hilarious::hilarious::hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:

1950s or 60s made on Murano lampwork. Nice wee souvenir.
