This has been a rough year for me. I just started grad school, so I'm working two jobs (professional writing and Etsy) in addition to student teaching, and my Etsy store has been a sort of life line both in terms of finances and keeping my depression at bay. (Even though it's taking up all my free time, haha.)

So, this was a really nice way to cap off an otherwise bad year. I picked up this squash blossom necklace with a bunch of other silver pieces (and several strands of majorica pearls) for a great price. I'd love your thoughts on how old it might be.

Congratulations on some great finds. I remember that time in my life, where the world was overwhelming - full time job and graduate school. It was all worth it in the end, and the unanticipated byproduct was mastering organizing essential life tasks in such a way to minimize time spent. That skill has kept me in good stead long after the exhaustion of those years.

Really nice and coral squashes are more valuable than turquoise these days. I think that’s a beauty. IMO it’s 60s/70s.

Thank you! It's definitely overwhelming, but I'm hoping this next semester will be better.
    Thanks!
Thank you! I'm glad to hear they're more valuable; I personally prefer the coral ones to the turquoise.
Thank you! I'll try not to, haha, although I think it's just something I'm going to have to deal with.
    Thanks! No marks unfortunately.
    Thanks!
Thank you! I live in AZ, so I see these all the time. :)

IMO no marks on the naja is a good thing. Not all newer squashes are marked but few older ones are. In my experience few were stamped before the 80s although again, unstamped doesn’t guarantee age but the fact that it’s good color coral and unstamped would lead me to believe it’s earlier than 80s. How’s the weight? Lighter would be later. Get the coral checked to make sure it’s genuine and untreated.

Hey K you could be right. There’s no real way IMO to date it but just guessing by the apparent coral size, color and lack of stamping. Meanwhile unstamped nickel silver ones with synthetic coral are being made today.

it's just that it's such a classic design...it's hard to date....

It's 137 grams, so I assume on the older side?

Not necessarily. Doesn’t matter although you do want to give the weight when you list it. After having the coral and silver checked you can list it as a Vintage Southwestern Coral Sterling Silver Squash Blossom Necklace. Leave the dating open. Hope you do well with it!

just off the cuff....asking prices I've seen range from $650...to $2800....
although I find that high end .........to be unrealistic...at best !

Still.....better to have one and not need one.... than need one and not have one !
    ;):):)

    & I'd tweak the title.....
Vintage Southwest Style, Silver & Coral Squash Blossom Necklace......!

Southwestern is the more hit keyword but either is fine. No need for style or “and”. All that’s really needed is Vintage Coral Silver Squash Blossom Necklace.
