I bought this daguerreotype that had been on ebay for awhile. I assume because of the condition and bad photos. I took a chance on it because I liked what I saw. I must admit I was stunned with the restoration overall! MY FAVORITE part was finding out she was holding a rose! I haven't seen one yet where someone is holding a flower. The white dress with the pink accents is great. However, the unfortunate part is that tarnish did cover up the flower but nonetheless it is there!

I am always just amazed at what you can do with these. They often look irretrievably damaged.

Youd be surprised at how much of the damage is actually just the glass!

    Hi,
I used to get a lot of these and always sold them cheaply. I never knew they could be restored. I sold them cheap since I thought the only thing worth was the case..

    Great result, spart.
That means it was made for someone she loved, probably her fiancé.:)

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

The mat you(?) added also enhances it, I think. The tinting is beautiful!

Does anyone know if there is anyone in Australia who restores these? I have been left several, along with a scrapbook and some original pics taken by my great great uncle. He was from Birmingham and belonged to a photographic society there. I have so many pics to go through I am not sure where to begin. He was on my Grandmothers side and ideally I would like to gift these pieces to her side of the family.
