My hobby, old silver

    I am "The Swede" quite new at Antiques Board.

    Thank you for accepting me! I am a quite old collector of silver items, interested in older handmade silver. Interested in and quite good at recognizing European hallmarks and others. I like to find objects I can write a story about. Just found a baroque wedding plate made in Norway 1676-1683. The initials will hopefully point at the exact year when I find the wedding certificate. Thrilling hobby!
    I have followed the Antiques Board for some time now and sensed that I could contribute.

    You are very welcome here, Swede. It sounds as though your hobby takes much dedication and perseverance. We will be interested in seeing some of your finds and hearing their stories. If you have been following the board, you know we get many requests for help with silver marks. No doubt we will soon have need for your expertise. :happy:

    Thank You all! I hope i can be of some help, but a lot of you are very skilled. I live in southern Sweden not far from Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark. Hence I have a lot of danish silver i.e. Georg Jensen and other famous danish silversmiths.
    I love to show you the Norwegian wedding plate, but have to figure out how to do it.

    Welcome Swede, always nice to see another silver junkie. Very fond of Scandinavian silver, though my personal interests are more centered on mid 19th to mid 20th century - am very much looking forward to seeing your post on the 17th century plate...
