    Hey folks.

I bought some antique silver mate straws and they just arrived in the post.

I noticed that they have the same mark as another straw which I bought earlier this year, so I assume they were all made in the same country / by the same company.

Does anybody recognise the mark? I believe it's supposed to be a stylised sun.

The straws are all marked for 800 silver. You can see the "sun" mark beneath.

Mate ("Mah-Tay") is a type of tea consumed in South America (Bolivia, Peru, Argentina, etc), so I assume the straws were made there. You drink the tea through the straw, and the strainer at the bottom stops the tea-leaves from going up the pipe and choking you.

EDIT: NEVER MIND!! I found it! It IS Argentina!!
