20210716_214932~2.jpg I got this from Goodwill.
I been around antiques for 15 plus years but surprisingly never seen this, storage table that is shaped like a bucket. It's kinda like a apple wooden basket, but opens one flap up and folds over to put something in. It's got me, other than it looks like a cool table, I haven't a clue of it's actual name or it's purpose.
I'm new here to this website and here's a little bit about me.
I'm 31 and really into pre 1950's trains Lionel,Marx, and my other favorites are pre 1940's fans. I have a collection of over 15. One is the Luminaire Electric Funeral Parlor Fan Lamp, working. I also am a collector and reseller.
That's a little bit about me.
Can anyone tell me what this table basket is? And the name of it.
There is no identification on it.
    I paid $3.00 Total.
    Any idea of it's value?

Greetings, David. Your table sounds very interesting, but I'm afraid we can;t help much without pictures.

My opinion: handmade from the mid-70s. My husband & a friend of his made similar bases & then extended it upwards with a 2X4 back and added a wood shade with a light bulb. . .ended up being a storage table lamp. I believe they got the idea from an old woodworking magazine.

In the UK I used to see these (like @wiscbirddog says) in the 1970's, usually as a planter for a cheese plant or aspidistra. I suspect the lid may have been added later. It's what you would call a decorators lot, value is really what you can get for it as interior decor, it doesn't have an intrinsic value as such.

I had one....can't remember the American company who made it but it was considered a sewing bucket on tripod base.

Circa 1950s maple or maple finish bucket-table - made by different manufacturers and found in numerous variations, shallow (as suggested, sometimes fitted as sewing basket), or deep, with or without a bail handle, or with an attached lamp, etc.

    1955, sewing bucket:

1950, no turned legs, but would think a metal or plastic liner:

Cheryl's got this. American colonial revival-ish. Your's might be a bit later (60s or so) with those phillips head screws. Hole on top indicates something is missing. Maybe a handle or could have been a lamp.

I have one for knitting and Crocheting . It has a hole for you to pull the yarn through and a cut out on top with a pin cushion. The legs bring it up to the workers arm level when sitting in a chair.
