image.jpg Anyone know these marks? The only SN I can find is Samuel Noyes from Norwich CT. Doesn't look like the mark of his I can find though. VERY interesting pictorial marks. Unless thy are a countries hallmarks I'm unfamiliar with. Would love some help with this one. Hoping for late 18th early 19th century.

It's not a Britannia standard mark, this mark is Hibernia - it is proper Dublin sterling marks for Samuel Neville, 1818, with a little journeyman's mark at the right...

Yeh I was confident it was silver I only wanted to confirm who it was or in this case wasn’t. Then when unexpected doubt was introduced I got nervous enough to bail on my last minute bidding plans. More time would have been wise! I usually just ask questions later but if it was indeed a not often seen Noyes mark I was going to go much higher than if it wasn’t. Oh well. There lots more spoons out there I guess.

Not sure what this means? I saw the heart too but wasn’t sure if it was a blemish coincidentally shaped or not.

In case anyone is still confused (of which there seems to have been plenty) read Cheryl's post (#9).

    So Sterling not Coin silver.

Sorry for suggesting it was nickel.

Did the auction describe it as Coin

Hmm I replied and it didn't show up on my end. So replying again.

No worries on the nickel. It often means that so I understand the conclusion. It was described as coin in listing. I figured there was a decent chance it was hallmarks I didn't recognize as they are more "intense" than the average pictorial or pseudo marks.
