Looks like a George to me.:)

"Any abrasive material may be used to create a honing stone, but the most commonly used are corundum, silicon carbide, cubic boron nitride, or diamond. The choice of abrasive material is usually driven by the characteristics of the workpiece material. In most cases, corundum or silicon carbide are acceptable, but extremely hard workpiece materials must be honed using superabrasives."

Btw, honing is the Dutch word for honey, which brings us back to Deborah's post.:)
(Still looks like a George to me....)

The way I read the instructions regarding it containing a material that won’t take heat, it is synthetic, not a natural mineral, although it probably contains some natural components.

B7E9D98E-4EDE-4C36-98C3-21A90EF36C17.jpeg Here’s a hone of the same model as mine but much cleaner, looks little-used. Plus mine’s blue I think. Hones like this are used by machinists to get mirror-smooth surfaces and exact dimensions inside cylinders. I haven’t used mine yet, a friend recently gave me a copy of the thick instruction manual. I have no cylinders needing honing at the moment. But you never know.
