Nanna's Cup and Saucer! Just how old is it, where is it from and who could have made it?

hi everyone,

I'm very new to this and was just wondering if anyone could shed some light on this cup and saucer or point me in the right direction..

I inherited this cup and saucer from my grandmother as her her first born grand daughter and would love to know more about it.. She had it passed onto her by her grandmother and it had been passed on a few times before that, from what I recall her mentioning.

It has no markings, which makes things difficult, and from guides I have read it seems to be bone china and is very translucent..

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sorry about the photo will take some better quality shots tomorrow.

It appears to be late 19th C, if it is translucent it is porcelein and I can't see it well enough to see if it is hand painted but it may be.

It loooks European is all I can say about the origin, I know next to nothing about ceramics.

Do not expect it to be notably valuable.

 

Hi Jess and welcome! I can't give you a firm ID but I'll offer an opinion. The color scheme on the rims (red and green) is a frequent edge treatment on Japanese china items. The cup is an interesting shape and not one I've come across often. The berry decoration is a bit unusual too. It wouldn't surprise me if it was originally part of a tea set. It would help to see a bottom picture of the cup and saucer. Although it may be unmarked, there are several clues that the bottom can provide. If I had to put a date on it, my guess would be depression era. It does not have a great deal of value so enjoy it. It's true value is in the memories it brings to you. All this is JMHO and others may correct me.
