It was only a dollar. I haven't looked this piece up so i'm hoping I can get my money back at least.

Yup...They did make some!During the 1940s and early 1950s Sterling Retro jewelry was all the rage. Because of the need for base metals during World War II, costume jewelry manufacturers produced Sterling Silver pieces, often plated with a gold vermeil finish

Thank you necollectors. This is all silver. Is it vintage? Its solid silver? So I can use silver polish to clean it up. It's really tarnished.

Should be able to. Some of the silver had rhodium plating, making life difficult.

Nice it's vintage. All I have is a tub of Wrights silver cream.

Wrights will work! I just like the clothes cause the are not messy and do a great job on jewelry.
Fabulustre Brand is made in the USA Rouge cloth...amazon, fire mountain gems...to name a couple...about 6-10$

I don’t care much for Wrights. Other people seem to like it. I more have problems using it on silver plate. It seems to get a yellowish tinge after a while.

    Rhodium would never tarnish

Rhodium doesn't, but the spots where it has worn off sure do.

@ineedhelp. I find the same with Wright's and my silverplate--everything acquires a yellow tinge after less time than is warranted after all the elbow grease I've put into cleaning the stuff! What do you use instead for your silverplate pieces?

I try my best with a cloth, I usually do pretty well. Not that I’m happy this happens to you, but I’m glad I’m not the only one. I see so many people who are happy with it. Maybe that doesn’t happen with Sterling.

@i need help -- thanks for your reply. I really did think it was just me and that yellowing. Sorry to impose on you again--but do you use a cloth on larger pieces like coffee pots and tea pots?

I never wanted to try this on Sterling. I used a cloth and if it absolutely needs polish, I use Herman’s. A bit Spendy and not in stores.
