Hello there. I'm new to the boards and was invited to come post some of my jewelry collection over here in this forum. I found this eagle pendant online a few years ago, unsigned, but recognized the work as Tlingit artist Nathan Jackson (b. 1938). I got a hold of Nathan and asked if he made it, which he confirmed, and then he offered to sign it for me. I mailed it to him, and shortly after, got the signed pendant back. It was carved in 1971 out of ebony and silver, and was recently featured in a retrospective of Nathan's work at Sealaska Heritage Institute in Juneau, Alaska. One of my favourite pieces from my collection and a very cool fusion of Alaska Native art and modernism.

Love the pendant, hubcap, thanks for showing us.
So nice that Nathan Jackson offered to sign it, sometimes it really pays off if you contact the artist.

Great story. I love how you recognized his work. You surely have an extensive knowledge of Northern Art to be able to do that. It's a very interesting piece too with very dramatic materials. Thanks for sharing.

I should mention that I am equally proud of using a basketball display case and Christmas ornament hanger (which I painted black) from Michaels to make the display I have it in - less than $50.
