    First timer here.

I have a National Cash Register that has been sitting in my shed for a while. I need the space so I'd like to sell it, probably to a local antique dealer (it's so heavy I can't imagine what shipping would cost).

Before I go to the dealer, I'd love to get a super rough estimate of a fair price.

    Appreciate any help!

Below are photos to help identify. It appears to be in pretty good cosmetic condition, but seems like it's not working, keys seem fairly stuck:

There is a NCR website were you can put the seriel number in and it will give you the date.
Check sold prices on eBay of similar machines and take an average for selling yours.

I second the comment that prices are down considerably and the market isn't very strong. I'd suggest offering it to several antique dealers and then taking the best offer. Not all dealers sell/want this type of thing since they are so big, bulky, and require specialized knowledge/repair.

    I had a 1910 NCR about 6 years ago.
The keys were in UK money and it worked.
    I put it up for £900 ($1095) and accepted £750 ($910) .
It went to an old style barber shop in London.

Bizarrely I've just acquired a brass/gold coloured ring that is stamped NCR. Apparently they made some key chains etc but not sure why a ring!

Thanks for the replies. If I were to sell via ebay, any idea how people ship these things? They're so heavy!

Check under the drawer, often the paperwork from the original sale is pasted there :)

I don't think London prices are a good reference. outside London the prices - not to speak of the continent - are considerably lower for all antiques - Paris rive gauche etc. excluded. and you only get good prices when it's a special model in pristine condition.

The ring is a spare, used for holding the number on the key.

Yeah but this was not a London price,it was my price, a Yorkshire price, I sold it to London.
It needed 9 replacement screws which I could only buy from the US,cost me around £5 including shipping for 50 assorted NCR screws.
I used the 9 and resold the remaining 41 to someone in Switzerland for £19.

The key on the till that you press to bring up the price, it has a number recessed into it and is held in with the brass ring.
If you Google NCR brass ring you will see many for sale.

Ah, I see what you mean. Looking at the pictures mine doesn't have any rim or folded edge. I will keep looking to find a match.

Here's the one I had, the marble slab above the drawer had been replaced with a sheet of aluminium.
    It weighed 63.5kg or 140lbs.
