Hi, I was wondering if anyone could give me any info on these baskets. they were purchased at an estate sale that had lots of Native American art. I paid almost nothing for them. The doll sits on my shelf (I like any type of hand made art) the other I use for storage. Are they Native American? Fakes? How old are they? Should i treat it as a storage basket or piece of art?

    Thanks for any help!

You still have time to edit your premature post. Edit, then Other Choices (think that's what it's called) & you can add photos, as long as files are under 1MB each. And please select full size, not thumbnails.

I could not rotate the picture because it was too small. When I tried to enlarge it, it became way out of focus. I tried.

you did fine KOMO! I suspected the Doll was pine needle, but, wasn't sure and didn't want to offer wrong info. (the "needles" kind of looked more like grasses to me.) BWDIK (pine needle baskets aren't my thing LOL)

The doll is Tohono O'odham (formerly called Papago), from southern Arizona. They use yucca, beargrass, and Devil's Claw (the black/brown decoration), and occasionally willow, but not pine needles.

The other basket is not Native American. It is made from palm fiber, and is African, most likely from Uganda, based on the form, materials, natural colors, and stitching used.
