Native american moccasins??

    They do not look like they were Native American made, and they don't look particularly old. Native Americans commonly tanned their leather using the "brain tan" method. For good results, the outer layer of skin (grain) is removed. So it will look "suede" on both sides. It won't have a shiny, slick side. Also, although it's hard to tell from the photos, yours look like commercial tanned cowhide, not deer hide.

    1970 hippy footwear? Those mushrooms were very popular back in the 70s on everything from kitchen utensils to clothing.
