When I first saw this I immediately thought older Native American. When I looked at the chain and clasp I thought maybe newer, like 80’s or 90’s. But, maybe it’s not Native American at all. Maybe it just wants to be Native American. I have over thought it, and am thoroughly confused. Any help would be greatly appreciated. It is onyx and sterling. No marks that I have found. I removed a bit of the tarnish. It came off easily with a sunshine cloth. IMG_5694-compressed.jpeg IMG_5695-compressed.jpeg IMG_5697-compressed.jpeg IMG_5698-compressed.jpeg

Lovely, a very elegant design. I wonder if it could be Mexican.

Very pretty. It reminds me of a seed pod in motion.

I thought maybe Mexico. But, then isn’t Mexican jewelry usually signed?

Yes, it is. But then so is NA jewellery of this more modern style.
I wonder where the shop in the link get their jewellery from.

Good question. I was reading that modern style with no signature is often a sign of fake Native American jewelry.

I think they may make their jewelry? They are a mom and daughter trio. According to AI they source their materials from all over. It looked like more info was on instagram, but I refuse to get the app.

A spring ring clasp is all wrong for NA jewelry,
unless it's a replacement. NA jewelers usually use a hook and eye type clasp, usually handmade.
This looks like Mexican or Anglo work to me.

That’s what I was kinda feeling. It still is a pretty necklace to me. And I only paid $6, so no worries.

Of course, it's still a really nice find! $6.00 for a sterling onyx necklace is great, no matter who made it.

I do have the app (got sucked in by my little brother) but there’s little to no info there. It says “vintage and new” and “authentic sterling silver and turquoise”. Zero indication that they make any of the jewelry. Didn’t see anything in a quick search about where they got any of it.
