Picked this up today. Not wheel thrown nor is it coiled and it's VERY light. Any ideas where it might be from?

    Thank you!

It's Mucahua pottery, from the Amazon region of Ecuador. This form is a bowl commonly used for drinking a traditional fermented drink called Chicha. This is probably Quichua, but several other local tribes make similar pottery.

Oh cool. Many thanks Taupou, I was hoping you'd have a look. I'm very much obliged to you. (It cost me under a dollar, I just liked it. The things that show up in England.....!)

Just one of the by-products of conquering the world.

Sometimes. ;) Although I suspect this thing was brought back as a souvenir. Don't think we invaded Ecuador.
