I'm curious about this as the texture of the wafer beads if that's what they're called looks older almost like they were sliced from old beads.

Does anyone have any ideas on this?

u can call the bead work ' Heishi '......but that likely won't help find who made it or when..

I thought the center looked kind of like a stylized goose.

Does anyone know what the large oval is made of?

Looks like brass and dyed crushed material the same as the "heishi"disc.

Both the disc beads and the oval look like they are made of coconut shell. Not crushed, but cut and dyed.
Could we see the back of the oval?
An abstract wavy something with one dot for good measure.;)
I can't see if the gold coloured lines are inlaid metal or simply painted, but I suspect the latter.

80s is a good thought. That colour combo and the overall style was a thing.

IMG_20220915_120230_(960_x_960_pixel).jpg It does look like the oval is multicolor like all the different colored wafers were crushed and adhered with some polymer. At first I thought it was granite. But it doesn't seem to be as heavy as that. It's not light however it's fairly heavy. But the granite color has to have come from somewhere but if you notice the overall tone of many of the wafer beads are grayish.

It does look like the brass design pattern is inlaid but for some reason it's not strong. Like it was almost a very thin layer of brass or foil that was used. It might have been a type of paint put on and then some coat of shellac or resin put over it

For some reason the android app to resize crops some images. Going to try another.
